3 Ways to Get the Most Out of Your Web Site Promotion Marketing

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

By now you probably understand the importance of getting your own website. It’s the command center of building and growing your online business. From capturing visitor contact information to promoting a multitude of products and services, it all starts with establishing your presence online.

Now all you have to do is get the word out and this is where it gets tricky. People are bombarded with so much information today that it becomes easier to tune out a large portion of it. This goes double for advertising, especially on the internet where you are constantly being prodded to buy this or that. The key is to have a plan of action. In this case focus on providing good quality content on your website. People want information and a break from the sales pitch. Providing useful content in your own voice can raise your internet profile considerably.

You are building something long term that will take time so be patient with yourself and your business. In the meantime there are free and cost effective internet web site promotion techniques you can implement right now.

1. Submit to Search Engines and Directories

Normally you only have to submit your website to the Big Three search engines: Google, Yahoo and MSN. But there are tons of search engines you can use depending on how much time you want to spend doing this. To automate the process you can always find some free software or online service that will do the work for you.

Unfortunately this is not always the case as far as directories are concerned. There are literally thousands of directories online and most require you to submit your website manually. While this can be a painstaking process, the payoff is you get backlinks to your site (something the search engines love) and your web traffic grows in a more natural way (something the search engines also love). It takes awhile to do this but again you are building a business for the long term.

2. Deal or No Deal

It’s hard to do business alone. That’s why you should always be on the lookout for webmasters who are willing to reciprocal link or do a joint venture agreement. Make sure that what they are doing is related to your niche without being in direct competition with your web site. Do not trade links just for the sake of getting them. For instance there are websites that are focused on one topic but their link directory contains everything under the sun. Search engines do not look too kindly on this, so do a little research and target the webmasters that complement your business.

3. The Classifieds

There are many classified ad sites online but the two that have become virtual powerhouses are Craig’s List and US Free Ads.

Craig’s List has taken local classifieds across the country and forums of various topics and placed them all under one roof. Some marketers have used this very effectively to promote their business. As of late however Craig’s List has been overshadowed by US Free Ads a classified directory that offers Google friendly pages, a free online html editor so you can place images and links in your ads and the potential to get a lot of traffic to your website. They also offer a premium membership which allows you to place unlimited ads, generate your own product catalog, link to your own shopping cart and much more. As of this writing the premium membership is only nine dollars a year. Definitely worth a look.

Getting your website noticed takes a lot of work. Start with one of the tips above; get it up and running then move to the next. Above all be persistent. Find what works, stick to it and very soon your audience will find you.

Setting Up an Online Business on a Tight Budget

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

With the internet, it is much easier to start on online business. An online business is perfect for people who have to work from home, such as stay at home parents, retirees, the disable or simply someone who prefer a flexible lifestyle. So you have come to a decision to set up an online business. However, just like most who are just starting out, you have a shoestring budget, how can you get going? Do not be discouraged as it is very possible to start a small online business on a small budget.

First and foremost you could start off by looking for free domain names. Because there are so many companies around who are now selling domain names, the market has become quite competitive. But there are a few sites around that will register a domain for you at no charge. However, there is a catch with some of them in that they will set themselves up as the administrator for your domain and then only transfer ownership to you after a set period of time for free or will charge you a small fee. Some will even put some form of ads on your website.

A better option is getting a free blog. Blogs are very popular nowadays and it is so easy for beginners to get started. You can use a blog to advertise your business in a personal way. Unlike website, blogs allow you to add your personal thoughts as well as allows interaction with your readers. Offer a freebie or an email course, get hold of your prospects’ email and you can advertise to them time and again. All these are possible with free blogging platform such as Blogger.com or Wordpress.com. There are plenty of other blogging platforms out there, but Blogger is my personal favorite as it is very user friendly and your blog will get indexed fast by the search engines.

If you are setting up a website but do not have the means to pay for $10 a month for hosting, then you can look for sites which will host your site for free. However, before you jump straight into a free hosting plan, there are some drawbacks using free hosting. Most of these free host sites will place a banner at the top of your pages in exchange for their free service. This is another good reason to use free blogging platform. Most of these blogging platforms will host your blog for free. Some of them even allow you to add your own advertisement or banner on your blog, such as Blogger.com.

If you already have your products for sale, then go ahead a create a simple webpage or blog explaining the benefits of your product. However, What if you are someone who do not have their own product for sale but still wants to make money online? Is that possible? Of course! You can either create a new product to sell or be an affiliate to sell someone else’s product. Creating your own product is not as daunting as it sounds but it does require some expenses such as hiring a graphic designer, copywriter or ghostwriter. Of course unless you can do all that by yourself.

A better option is to start out as an affiliate marketer. An affiliate is someone who promotes other people’s products and in return receive a commission for any sale or leads generated. This is a great way to start your online business as it involves low start up costs and no special skill. If you use free blogs, you can even eliminate any start up cost. For an idea of just what kinds of products and services offer affiliate programs, check out Clickbank.com or ComissionJunction.com. Both of these sites are generally at the very top of most affiliate marketers’ lists.

To conclude, starting an online business is much easier compare to a brick and mortar business. Starting an online business does not need a huge start up capital which makes it very easy for anyone to get started online. So start taking action today!

Do Not Get Yourself Trapped Into Internet Business Opportunity Scams!

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

There are many Internet business opportunities that exploit the originality of the Web by using some form of pyramiding to resell the scheme itself, some by exploiting loopholes in the law to enroll through a back door, others by breaching the law until they are raided. It’s all just enticement created mentally by con artists, who care only about parting you from your money. Sense of right and wrong do not come into it. Anyone not clever enough can get trapped in their offer with promises of freedom, reputation, high income and the lavish life by setting you up with a company- supported, duplicate Website, along with products or services to sell for a fixed charge and will also promise to offer you incentives to enroll others to pay the fee. Another trick of the trade is to “adopt” the reputations of popular merchants, financial institutions etc, by offering forwarding deals with them.

Even if products and services are more than just an enticement to resell the scheme, often these internet business are not really wholesalers as they might claim but in reality they are extra middlemen between wholesale distributors and you, and enjoying the an extra hare of the profit. These businesses are called, as Dot Cons by the Federal Trade Commission is not wholesaling products or services but be fooling you into reselling the concept of the scheme for them. As a result you will have to overcharge absurd selling prices from your customers to earn any margin at all, share your meager forwarding charges with unnecessary middlemen, or both.

Web is gradually becoming a highly competitive place to do business because Internet business opportunities tend to market the simplicity of online marketing and popularity of shopping on the Web. Another the biggest dot-con hypes are getting free advertising for your websites. When starting up small businesses, if you lack an advertising budget and if any Internet business opportunity permits you with free advertising then it will be a jackpot for you. This is the bottom line for dot-cons to profit from you. Search engines are the main source of Website traffic but the reality is, that Yahoo, Excite and Google are only handfuls that deliver significant traffic.

It is important that you should know the keyword or Meta tag when you pay the fee for an Internet business opportunity, or otherwise you will be in trouble. The marauders who run Internet business opportunity scams calculate on a new prey being born every minute, and flourish on the inexperienced, wishful and desperate especially Stay-at-home moms, the elderly, and physically-challenged people who desperately need money.
